Where are they???

Wow I just loved hearing how each of you started on your fabulous quilting journey. It makes my heart sing to know that every one of you has a special story.

And how fun is it to find new and exciting places to shop? Do you have a favorite quilt store that makes your credit card jump out of your wallet??

When you walk into your favorite shop, do you just want to stand there and breathe in all the loveliness??

Do you map out places on vacation trips, just to be sure that you will pass a quilt shop along the way?

What draws you to visit a quilt shop? The newest fabrics?

Friendliness of the staff?

Inspiration from their samples?

And tell me, please tell me, where is the furthest quilt shop you have ever visited? A different state? Country???

We want to hear about the BEST quilt shops you have ever visited! After all, we may be in your neck of the woods one day :-)

Happy Quilting!

How did you start?

I've often thought about how the quilting resurgence has created a whole industry for quilters. Not seamstresses or casual sewing enthusiasts. But quilters!

When I started quilting 25 years ago, I remember that it was a little difficult to find 100% cotton fabric. And there were no "lines" of coordinating fabrics to create that perfect quilt for a childs bed. You bought a piece of blue fabric with a tiny floral design and tried to find something, anything, that would go with it!

So I was thinking about how the quilting world has grown to such huge proportions, and I wondered what brought YOU on the quilting trail?

Is it fabric?

Or designs?

Patterns? Magazines?? The challenge of quilting??

What got you interested in making quilts? What keeps your interest? What challenges you? I'd like to know. Share a little insight with all of us.

And of course, happy quilting :-)

Shot out of a cannon? Yep that's me

You know there are some days that are just better then others! I've had a LOT of time on my hands for the last five weeks. Some days have been good. Some not so good. But the days when the postman leaves a package is definitely a good day!

I especially love to see a package from my sweet friend Kelly Jackson from I Have A Notion. Now talk about a fun loving gal! She sent me a little get well package.

The card itself was worth the price of the postage :-) I can really relate to this card, cause I felt like I had slipped on a banana peel, and fell off of a unicycle, and was hit by a meteor, and skied into a snowman, not to mention missing the net...........I felt that I could check off each box!

So how much fun is it to open a get well package?

Lots!

Thank you Kelly!

Fall fun!

Wow it is the first day of fall, and so much is happening in the quilting world. First up is Pat Sloan.

Doesn't this look like fun!

You need to hop over to Pat's blog and read about Pat and her friends. Be prepared for a fun week at The Edge Blog Hop!

And next is the Quilt Designers Blog Hop hosted by GE Designs.

Check out Fall-o-Ween to see who is contributing to this fun blog hop starting next week.

Better fill up the coffee maker, clear the calendar, and hop, hop, hop around for some fall fun!

Happy Quilting :-)

A little more fall

I've come across a few more of my fall quilts. Sadly, some are still in ufo condition. I had high hopes of finishing up quilts when we moved to the new house, but that is all put on hold for the moment. But it is amazing what a little creative folding can do when you want to showcase a quilt ;-)

This next pattern was in American Patchwork & Quilting magazine a few years ago. If you receive the All People Quilt newsletter, I think they offered this quilt again. It is supposed to have rake and some leaves appliqued.

I made this one from a pattern in a book I checked out of the library. I've used this tablerunner on the coffee table but this year it will grace our dining room table.

I hope you are having an enjoyable day. The weather cooled off a bit here this morning. The birds were chattering and fusing. Love this time of year.

Happy quilting!

Fall is in the air

Even though I live in Florida, I am seeing leaves starting to fall from the trees in our back yard. Of course we do not have the magnificent color of the changing season, but I can still feel fall is in the air.

So it is time to dig out some of the fall quilts.

Lost Quilts

Please take a moment and stop in at The Quilting Gallery and read this wonderful article about Lost Quilts and what you can do to prevent losing one of your own quilts. Be sure to visit the Lost Quilt Come Home website. We are all in so many different places in different parts of the country. Maybe you can help recover someones quilt that has been lost or stolen.

I'm still here

Hello all of my sweet blogging friends. Oh how I have missed all of you. I am still here. Still taking pain relievers and basically not doing much.

Three weeks have passed very slowly. I have so appreciated everyone's prayers and thoughts. I've heard back from several of you, which has been an encouragement to my day. I've been able to read my emails on my little iTouch and then my sweet hubby brought a lap top from work so I could read some of your blogs. But some days I get pretty tired.

No real report about my compression fracture. The xrays taken in the ER were too low to see the actual fracture. I went to have an MRI on Wednesday. However, even though I tried twice I could not do it. So at this point I am not really sure what the next step is. My sweet hubby and children have been taking very good care of me. What a blessing they are.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. Please keep them going. And thank you for being such kind caring friends. I long to get back to quilting and blogging once again.
